Alternatives for Hamilton's Main Street intersection with US 93 were presented at an open house at City Hall Wednesday evening. Staff from the company Community Builders showed their initial ideas on large maps (see photo above) so the public could see and comment on some of the "Connect 93" proposals. Currently, the main alternatives include improved pedestrian crossing on the east side of the intersection, which also would more clearly define the turning lanes. Pedestrian improvements such as sidewalks would continue along Marcus Street toward Hamilton High School. City planner Matthew Rohrbach said Wednesday's comments from the public will now be added to the mix. The project will involve the Montana Department of Transportation, Montana Rail Link and local property owners. The public will also have more opportunities to comment as the "Connect 93" project continues. The goals are to improve traffic, bike and pedestrian flow and enhance the looks of the area.
