90-minute parking will continue in downtown Hamilton.

An ordinance doing away with the timed parking failed in its second reading Tuesday night at the Hamilton City Council meeting. Following comments from a number of downtown merchants, the council decided to keep the 90-minute parking, with enforcement by the Hamilton police department.

The council will revisit the issue in May. Suggestions have been made to increase the time limit and to change the hours when 90 minute parking would be enforced.

The council may also be taking up the establishment of residential only parking around the Rocky Mountain Laboratories and the future home of the Bitterroot College at the westview center.
