Hamilton city officials met with the Ravalli County Commissioners Tuesday, January 21, to discuss 2020 projects that could involve both the city and county. City Planner Matthew Rohrbach, Public Works Director Donny Ramer and Mayor Dominic Farrenkopf talked with commissioners Greg Chilcott, Christ Hoffman and Jeff Burrows. Ramer said that road work on East Ravalli Street this year will include new pavement and sidewalk additions near the MRL railroad tracks to make the walking route to and from Daly Elementary School safer. County Commissioner Burrows said that might be a good time to do some paving on the county section of that street that connects to Daly Avenue. Discussions about that will continue. The city also shared their plans on replacing a water main on Big Corral Road this spring.

The city and county might co-sponsor a hazardous waste disposal day this year, which would involve a central collection area. The county heard about Montana Rail Link plans to raze the old Massa Home Center buildings on MRL property near the Vester Wilson baseball field, which would open another access to a proposed improved parking area by the field and Bitterroot Brewing. The city also invited commissioners to attend a public meeting about the Hamilton Main Street intersection at US 93 - the "Connect 93" project. Rohrbach said that meeting is February 5th at Hamilton City Hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The county expressed interest in helping with applying for state grants for area historic preservation. The meeting was a continuing effort from Hamilton Mayor Dominic Farrenkopf to increase communication between the city and county.
