Thursday night, the Hamilton volunteer Fire Department installed and hooked up the giant holiday snowflakes on the downtown streets.

The firemen donate their time and the Hamilton Downtown Association feeds them chili and beverages in the annual rite of decoration. This year, the downtown trees have been wrapped in white lights to complete the holiday image. Members of the HDA worked on that project a week ago.

But that's not all.

Friday after Thanksgiving, November 27, the Community Christmas Tree on the lawn of the Hamilton Post Office will be lit. The lighting ceremony, including songs from the Montana A Capella Society and a visit from Santa, will start at 6 p.m. There will be warming barrels and kids can cook up their own s'mores over the fires.

That will start a series of special downtown events in Hamilton, including Small Business Saturday on the very next day with horse-drawn wagon rides.
