On a cold, snowy evening the crowd gathered (see photo below) to watch the Hamilton Christmas Tree light for the season. The Hamilton Downtown Association hosted the event, closed off the 3rd block of Main Street and had burning barrels at the street corners downtown to ward off the cold. The Montana A Cappella Society sang a selection of classic Christmas songs and two young ladies of the Ravalli County Rockin' RC Rodeo royalty led the crowd in counting down to the lighting of the tree.

Santa arrived and sat with all kids who wanted to tell him what they hoped to receive on Christmas morning. The stores were open late, and will continue to have special events on Fridays leading up to Christmas, including the very popular Sheep Trail, where small, hand-knitted sheep are hidden throughout the businesses downtown. Thanks to the Knotty Knitters for those creations.
