They're calling it a new wave of music that presents Big Band Swing music in a unique Hawaiian style. The musical group Kahulanui is the opening concert of the Bitterroot Performing Arts series. The 9-piece band will be on stage at the Hamilton Performing Arts Center Friday, September 20. The 8 p.m. show will include music in the style of 1940s swing music with guitar, bass, drums, a horn section and even a ukulele. Their first album was nominated for a Grammy and the follow-up albums have been just as entertaining.
Some tickets are still available, but don't wait. Check the Bitterroot Performing Arts website for more details. While you're there, you might want to reserve the rest of the season which includes Rita Coolidge, the Steep Canyon Rangers, Tim Fain and Simone Dinnerstein and more - all coming to Hamilton.
