Craig Hurlbert, a familiar face around the Bitterroot Valley, is the 2020 AmateurGolf.com Senior Player of the Year. Craig, who is one of our Hamilton High School sports KLYQ Radio broadcasters, is pictured on the left in the photo with Owen Burch. Craig has been successfully working on his game on the golf course. Based in Magnolia, Texas, Hurlbert had four wins and ten Top-10 finishes during the year, earning 3,900 points, which outdistanced the second place finisher Rusty Strawn who had 3,150 points.

He led in the points standing throughout the year in the major senior events, including winning his first national senior contest the Old Corkscrew Senior, which required a playoff with Ken Kinkopf. He had a nice victory in the Montana State Senior Amateur at Yellowstone Country Club in Billings, his home course as a kid. He also won the Gateway Senior and the Golfweek Senior National Match Play in North Carolina.

In an article on amateurgolf.com, Craig gave credit to his wife. "My putting, and specifically my short putting, really became a strength this year. In addition, my wife, who played D1 college golf and was a playing pro for several years, helped me to improve my mindset. Her coaching helped me manage my emotions better, and this played a major role in my success this year."

Congratulations to Craig from KLYQ Radio and all his friends here in the Bitterroot Valley.
