The Bitterroot Kiwanis Christmas Food Drive wrapped up this weekend with over 285 families receiving boxes of food and other household items.

The collection day was almost overloaded with food, as the Hamilton High School classes put together over 13,000 pounds of food, with the frreshman class topping the other classes with 6,000 pounds. The grand prize - free admission to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Kiwanians said the food will reach over a thousand people in the Hamilton and Darby areas.

The drive is one of the oldest consistent food campaigns in the Bitterroot, having operated for 41 years. And, we're proud to say, KLYQ has been an active supporter every year. Merry Christmas.
