Lightning Caused Fire Closes Road Near Ovando
A fire near Ovando has shut down a road for emergency vehicles only.
"It's around the Ovando Black Foot river area," Public Relations Officer Jordan Koppen said. "River Junction Road is closed to non-emergency traffic due to an uncontrolled wildfire called Scotty Brown Wildland Fire."
The Scotty Brown Wildland Fire is estimated at 13.5 acres. Koppen says that although the fire is pretty secluded they wanted to close the road to secure safety.
"We just don't want the public or anyone else getting in the way of the operation we have going on right now," Koppen said. "We have aircrafts, we have crews coming in, were seeing more resources that can help us out. We have a couple structures that we don't want to have that kind of a threat. We just want people to steer clear of the area and to respect the people trying to work on the operation."
The fire is believed to be caused by lightning.
