It's been a very nice season at Lost Trail Powder Mountain at the south end of the Bitterroot Valley.

So far (as of January 22), they're received over 144 inches of snow, and that leaves a nice level of 60 inches at the top of the mountain and 55 inches at the lodge.

It's an easy drive on US 93 to the ski area with plenty of parking, but the Hamilton Lions Club is sponsoring a Saturday bus again this year. For $10, you can ride up to the area and then they'll bring you back. It leaves the Hamilton Middle School on South 5th in Hamilton at 8:30 a.m. and gets back to town by 5 p.m. The bus driver needs exact change, by the way. Big Sky Eye Care helped sponsor the bus, which will run every Saturday through February 20.

Also, the Winter Special Olympics will be at Lost Trail Tuesday and Wednesday, January 26-27. They always need volunteers, so call Carla at 363-3028.

Lost Trail celebrates winter with 10 groomed runs and 69 trails - open Thursdays through Sundays.
