Judge Michael Reardon was smiling. Police Chief Ryan Oster was smiling. Heck, everybody was enjoying the Grand Opening and Ribbon-cutting at the Hamilton City Justice Center Monday afternoon. An overflow crowd attended the opening ceremony, which included dedication of a plaque honoring longtime city attorney and city councilman Ken Bell (photo below).

The public saw the new quarters on West Main for the Police Department, City Attorney and City Court. The former National Guard Armory was remodeled and expanded to bring the law division of Hamilton into one location. Judge Michael Reardon was showing off the new courtroom, which includes some acoustic advances that allow better communication, and as Judge Reardon says, "better conversations" between himself and people who might be appearing in a courtroom for the first time and possibly without an attorney. Of course, there's also an audio system, which is being tweaked as everyone gets used to the new facility. The building also includes a 24-hour drop box for old and unused prescription drugs.
