On September 14, the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest will be closing Forest Road 5141 in the Pintler Ranger District to repair a bridge over the East Fork Reservoir. Ranger Cameron Rasor said in a news release, "The bridge is a multi-span timber bridge that was constructed in 1958 over the spillway of the East Fork Reservoir Dam. The bridge decking has deteriorated to the point that it is unsafe for heavy vehicles to cross it. This has limited the Forest Service's ability to manage the land in the Meadow Creek drainage."

Rasor said dozers were unable to cross the span in 2017 to help fight the Meyers Fire. He said the decking will be replaced and other structural repairs will allow heavier vehicles to cross. The closure includes part of the Meadow Creek Road. The Spillway Campground will not be closed, but access will be from the Middle Fork of Rock Creek on the Happy Creek Road. He cautioned that the Happy Creek road is much longer and is not recommended for large canp trailers or RVs. The project should be completed within two weeks.
