Officials are now studying the public comments on the Glacier National Park plans for the Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor. The deadline for public comments has passed. Park officials noted a 40 percent visitation growth from 2015 to 2017, with over 3 million visitors increasing the traffic congestion and parking shortages. In 2019, there were more vehicle accidents than prior years and there have been problems with disposal of human waste. Those issues are being addressed by the Corridor Management Plan.

The park's plan has a number of proposals, including more shuttle buses and six new stops, longer operating hours at Apgar and St Mary Visitor Centers, more parking at Avalanche Campground, opportunities for increased bicycle use, more toilets, new parking rules and more parking areas.
