The Montana primary election is June 7, but voting is already underway at the Ravalli County Administration Building on South 4th Street in Hamilton.

Clerk and Recorder Regina Plettenberg said the absentee ballots were scheduled to be mailed Friday. Those requesting the ballots can mail them back or drop them off at the polling place at the County Administration Building.

The polling place, on the same floor as the vehicle and property licensing department, has individual booths for those who won't be able to vote on election day. It's open during regular business hours.

The primary election is important for two local government study commissions. The Ravalli County study commission has proposed three changes in the future county office elections. The Hamilton study commission is proposing Hamilton adopt a local charter and move to a council-manager type of government.

The Ravalli County Museum is requesting a one-mill levy. The organization currently depends on grants, donations and sponsorships and lots of volunteer hours to exist.
