The online voting is already underway for a State Farm Insurance $25,000 "Neighborhood Assist" grant - and one of the finalists is the MAPS Media Institute in Hamilton.

The top 40 vote-getters on State Farm's Facebook page will each receive a grant. So far, according to Peter Rosten of MAPS, the voting has put the Ravalli County media training facility in the "money." But, the counting goes on until April 22, and a lot could change.

By the way, you need to be a Facebook member to participate.

In an interview on KLYQ Radio, Rosten said the map showing the eligible non-profit groups in the running are concentrated near much larger population centers than Montana.

MAPS has been training young people in media such as video, internet and television since 2004. It was first based at the Corvallis School, but now is in a facility at the Westview Family Center on West Main in Hamilton.

Rosten said that State Farm Insurance (in partnership with Optimum and Montana Office of Public Instruction) contracted with the institute for a successful "Graduation Matters" public service television campaign last year. He believes that connection helped MAPS be recognized as one of the groups State Farm would like to help with a grant.

We have two places for you to go to help with the voting. And, by the way, you can vote up to 10 times every day of the contest. So, this truly is an example of "Vote Early and Often!"
