The Magruder Road is a 100-mile route between the Selway-Bitterroot and Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness areas. And it needs some work.

Tod McKay of the Bitterroot National Forest said that crews will be operating a rock crusher on the road to produce more gravel between Salmon Mountain Trailhead and Elk City in Idaho.

In a news release, he reported no closures of the road, but there could be delays up to two hours. The work will continue at times through August, with completion expected August 20th.

The road was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. For updates and more information, call the West Fork Ranger Station at (406) 821-3269.
