U.S. Montana Senator Jon Tester spoke to the staff and students at the Anaconda Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center July 2. He was celebrating the fact that the center will not be closed. Tester said, "Closing down these Job Corps centers was a bad idea from the start and being here today reinforces just how important these programs are to our communities."

On May 24, the US Department of Labor proposed to either close or privatize the 25 centers, moving administration from the US Forest Service to the Department of Labor. Anaconda's center was on the chopping block. Work from Senators Tester and Steve Daines helped convince the administration to reverse its decision.
