With temperatures dipping back into the 30s, the storms that have been passing through western Montana have included more snow for the mountains.

When the clouds cleared Friday morning, April 29, fresh snow was seen on the Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountains of the valley. Blodgett Canyon, west of Hamilton, had new areas of white (see photo).

Forecasters expect warmer temperatures next week. And Bitterroot River streamflows have increased dramatically with the valley rains. Water is now flowing over the spillway as Painted Rocks Reservoir up the West Fork fills.
