The first ever "Tammany Trot" 5K Run will be Saturday, October 10 at the Daly Mansion grounds, northeast of Hamilton. The race, named after one of Marcus Daly's famous racehorses, is for humans, of course, and there will be two runs Saturday morning. The first Wave will be the "Tammany Trot" Race at 10 a.m. for competitive runners and the second Wave will be a Fun Run at 10:30 a.m. for casual family runners and walkers. The registration is $20 for adults and $10 for youth aged 10 to 17. Those under the age of 10 will be free.

The October 10th runs will start the mansion parking lot by the kids garden. Runners (and walkers) will use a route that surrounds the Mansion. They'll circle it a number of times to reach the 5K length and the finish line will be at the Daly Mansion porch. There will be prizes for first place male and female runners in the first Wave and all participants will get some fun swag bags, according to Courtney of the Daly Mansion. Other activities are scheduled, including a scavenger hunt on the grounds at 11 a.m. for kids and families. Ruby the Miniature horse will be available for photos. Treats will include Lickity Split Ice Cream and Frozen Treats.

The public is reminded that there are self-guided tours inside the historic Daly Mansion Tuesdays through Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. You need to call and set up your time in advance at (406) 363-6004. Facemasks are required inside the mansion and tour size is limited by the Montana COVID-19 requirements. The tours will continue for only a few weeks more. By the way, the mansion grounds are absolutely stunning in the fall and you can wander all over the 20 acres during the day at no charge.
