For the seventh year, the folks at The Place Church in Hamilton have brought back "The Giveaway." Denise Echterling said the December 12th event will be at the same place as last year - The First Interstate Center at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds. The room will be filled with everything from children's toys to furniture and all will be offered free of charge. Donations have been made throughout the year, and a final collection time at the Hamilton fairgrounds is Thursday, December 10, from 12 Noon to 6 p.m. Then, The Giveaway will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon, first-come, first-served.

However, there are some changes this year, due to COVID-19. There will be a limited number of people allowed in the building at a time and you must wear facemasks. For the first time, there will be only a small amount of clothing, due to the amount of time needed to quarantine the clothing because of possible COVID contamination. However, other types of donations will be accepted Thursday. There will be one entrance and one exit at the building to encourage one-way traffic and less exposure from person to person.

Denise said any financial donations will enable them to purchase some new items that will be given away, too. The organizing group can use more volunteers - both on the donation day December 10 and on the Giveaway day December 12. The group discussed whether or not to have the event because of the COVID-19 threat, but realized that this year, many more people in the community are needing help. If you can volunteer or have items to donate, please call (406) 350-2360.
