The defending Class A champion Corvallis Blue Devils boys team defeated Polson in a soccer playoff match this weekend.

The final score on the Corvallis field was Blue Devils 3 - Pirates 0. The team moves on in the playoffs as they hope to repeat at the top of the Class A high school soccer teams again this year.

The outcomes were not as good for three other Bitterroot Class A soccer teams last week.

Also playing Saturday were the Hamilton Lady Broncs, who dropped their playoff game to the Polson Lady Pirates 4 to 2. Polson took an early lead, Hamilton tied the score, but Polson then scored again and kept the lead throughout the rest of the game in Hamilton. Polson will move on to semifinals. Hamilton.

Earlier in the week, Tuesday Play-in games saw both the Corvallis girls and the Hamilton boys lose to Missoula Loyola. Then, the Loyola teams were eliminated this weekend, too; the Rams losing to Belgrade 9 to 1, and the Breakers losing to Laurel 9 to 0.

Cross Country
In Cross Country, the Corvallis boys won the team Western A Classic. Hamilton was fifth. For the girls, Corvallis finished second to Whitefish and the Hamilton girls were fourth. Stevensville girls finished in eighth.

Top boy cross country runner was Sage Wanner, edging out Carson Jessop of Corvallis.
Hamilton's Jaycie Schmalz was the top runner on the girls' side, barely finishing ahead of Kimberly Peacock of Columbia Falls. Hamilton's Sarah Passey was third.

State Cross Country will be in Kalispell Saturday.
