Two public fireworks displays are scheduled in the Bitterroot Valley this 4th of July.

The main show will be at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds in Hamilton. The City of Hamilton has put up the thousands of dollars that it takes for a nice-sized show and about $3,000 was donated by private citizens. By the way, they will accept donations at the fairgrounds Friday night for the 2015 display.

The show include the massive aerial sky bombs that you'd expect in a July 4th display. The gates open about 8:30 p.m. for those who'd like to find a nice place on the grass and, of course, the parking lots near the fairgrounds will be filled with spectators. The show will probably start right around 10 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Florence Fire Department has a display planned after their potluck dinner. The potluck will be at the fire hall at 6 p.m. Bring your favorite dish. A flag ceremony will follow the dinner, led by the local Boy Scouts.

The Florence fireworks show will start at dark.

If you're shooting off some fireworks at home - remember that it's dry out there, so watch out for grass fires. Have water available and patrol the area.

One place you can get away from the bangs and booms is our Bitterroot National Forest. No fireworks are allowed there ($500 fine if caught), and you can take your pet, who might not be handling all the noise very well.
