The local Christmas Bird Counts finished up last weekend with the Stevensville bird count, one of the oldest such counts in the state of Montana.

The reasons for doing the bird counts are numerous, and Bob Danley of the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge and I talked about some of them in our weekly radio report on KLYQ 1240 AM Monday morning (at 8:05 a.m.) I think that one of the major reasons for the counts to get people "out there" and notice the world around them. That's why we do the weekly radio programs.

So, keep on counting!

By the way, starting this week, we'll be posting our weekly reports on the website, in case you missed it. I'm also developing a separate page with a collection of selected shows. I'll let you know when we get it up and running.
