As part of the annual Bitterroot Secret Garden Tour, the Ravalli County Museum and Montana Bliss Artworks had a contest for two-dimensional art with a garden theme. The art was on exhibit at the Hamilton museum and last month, museum visitors voted for their favorite. The People's Choice Award went to "Wheelbarrow" by Steve Wilson.

Wilson said, "I wanted to create a garden where work was involved. Gardens don't appear on their own. Much work goes into a garden. The wheelbarrow is similar to one I own. I envisioned someone working on the garden, hauling flowers, and then it gets left ... and the flowers bloom in the wheelbarrow." Steve told assistant director Nancy Bevins that it took about a week to paint. He also makes all his own frames. The exhibit of all the entries will be on display throughout August. The museum is at the corner of South 3rd and Bedford in Hamilton. For more information, check the Ravalli County Museum website. by the way, the Secret Garden Tour sold out again this year.
