The Skalkaho Pass is open again. The heavy rains have brought the area forest fires down to a halt, and Bitterroot National Forest Supervisor Julie King said that the forest closures are being lifted around the 41 Complex fire. Gird Creek Road 714 will reopen Thursday evening at 6pm. Fire equipment will be using the road until then.
King thanked the public for their patience during the extended fire season.
The area, including Skalkaho Highway, will be subject to rolling rocks and dangerous snags, so be very careful in the fire areas. Also, for the most up-to-date information, check the Montana Department of Transportation website at or call the MDT number 511.
